Gentle cleansing & peeling
Why gentle cleansing matters
Properly cleansed skin absorbs active ingredients better, looks less shiny and feels calmer. The goal is to remove impurities, oil and SPF while keeping your moisture barrier and even an oily T-zone comfortable. That is why we reach for gentle textures: oil cleansers for make-up, low pH gel cleansers, creamy hydrating cleansers and ultra-soft enzyme cleansers or peels – all inspired by K-beauty.
How to build your routine
Everyday cleansing
- Morning: a gentle gel cleanser or creamy hydrating cleanser to refresh without tightness – perfect for office days when you want your base and SPF to sit smoothly.
- Evening: if you wear SPF/make-up, consider double cleansing (oil cleanser or balm → gel cleanser) to remove everything that has built up during the day.
- Sensitive skin: choose fragrance-free and hydrating cleansers that respect your barrier and prepare the skin for the next steps.
Peeling 1–3× per week
- Enzyme (papain, rice enzymes) – a very gentle enzyme cleanser/peel that smooths the surface without harsh scrubbing, ideal for delicate or reactive skin.
- PHA/LHA (gluconolactone, LHA) – mild, buildable exfoliation that also hydrates. Great if you want a soft, office-friendly glow without over-exfoliating.
- AHA/BHA – for texture and clogged pores; apply carefully on more resilient areas and focus mainly on the T-zone.
Ingredients that make sense
Enzymes (rice, papain)
They gently dissolve dead skin cells and refine texture while keeping the skin comfortable. Perfect if you want a smooth, polished look for a full day under office lights.
PHA, LHA & AHA/BHA
Layerable exfoliation: PHA for sensitivity, LHA for pores and AHA/BHA for texture and glow. Pair them with hydrating toners and creams to avoid dryness.
Clay & botanical extracts
Help absorb excess sebum and calm the look of the skin. Ideal 1–2× a week as an add-on to cleansing, especially on an oily T-zone.
Curated picks: gentle yet effective
ANUA Rice Enzyme Cleansing Powder
A soft powder enzyme cleanser with rice, ceramides and papain. Leaves the skin smooth, comfortable and ready for your serums – morning or evening.
SKINFOOD Black Sugar Scrub 2X
Revitalising sugar scrub. Apply on damp skin and massage gently; adjust the frequency to your skin type and other acids in your routine.
Mugwort Pore Clarifying Mask
Clay mask with mugwort. Helps absorb excess oil and visually refine pores – especially on the T-zone or areas prone to congestion.
How to choose for your skin type
Dry & sensitive
- Creamy and hydrating cleansers, enzymes or PHA/LHA.
- Avoid harsh particles and high acid concentrations.
- If your skin is reactive, look for fragrance-free enzyme cleansing and follow with a soothing toner/essence and hydrating cream.
Normal
- Gentle gel cleansers; exfoliate 1–2× per week as needed.
- Combine enzymes with a light AHA or LHA for extra glow and refined texture.
- Add a clay mask whenever your T-zone feels heavy or oily.
Combination & oily
- Gel cleansers, AHA/BHA and LHA according to tolerance.
- Use clay masks 1–2× per week on the T-zone and congested areas.
- Do not over-exfoliate – less is more, especially if you mix acids and mechanical scrubs.
Layering without mistakes
- Evening: oil cleanser or balm (if you wear SPF/make-up) → gentle gel cleanser or creamy hydrating cleanser.
- 1–3× per week: add a peel (enzyme/PHA/LHA/AHA/BHA) after cleansing, preferably in the evening.
- Follow with: toner or essence → serum → cream.
- Finish with SPF 50+ every morning, especially when using acids or any kind of exfoliation.
VIONE tip
If your skin feels tight or irritated, reduce the frequency of exfoliation and focus on a soothing, barrier-supporting routine. You’ll find inspiration in our Soothing sensitive skin selection.
